Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC) of Middlesex County is thrilled to announce the launch of our young entrepreneurs magazine, ME INC. This not-for-profit magazine is a spin off that we have created based on the Make Your Case Competition we hosted from 2003 to 2008. While Make Your Case has consistently received rave reviews from youth, teachers, and the local business community alike, we recognized that only a limited number of students were able to participate in this one-day event. By producing an annual printed publication based on the content of Make Your Case, we will create a lasting impact on a larger demographic, offering youth across the region (London, Elgin, Oxford and Middlesex) access to the same entrepreneurial material that has been provided at the event.

This first issue of ME INC., to be released in March 2010, will have a circulation of 10,000 copies. It will be made available to high schools, as well as agencies serving youth-at-risk (ages 14-24) throughout London, Middlesex, Elgin, and Oxford Counties at no cost.

ME INC. will offer young people ages 14 24 an opportunity to become young entrepreneurs by offering them the tools necessary to create effective business plans and the knowledge of how to obtain financing for their business ideas. The magazine will target youth from every discipline; business, to technology, to the arts, recognizing that youth may have aspirations to create businesses ranging from Web Design, to Fashion Boutiques, to Bike Repair, to Bakeries and beyond. No matter the area of study, ME INC. will offer access to professional entrepreneurial insight and will provide an introduction to business resources available throughout the region.

In addition, the magazine will offer three new $1000 grants, sponsored by the CFDCs of Middlesex, Elgin & Oxford Counties, for youth business plans for the summer of 2010; bringing hands-on business planning experience to high school students and at-risk youth across the region.
